Radio Detectives, The (BBC)

.

THE RADIO DETECTIVES is a radio series that looks back in time at the many detectives whose cases have graces the airwaves in the United Kingdom and the United States. They are the product of Professor Jeffrey Richards and were presented as three series of five programs each series. Each show covered the history of one detective, not only discussing the radio shows, but the detective's origins, printed works and films, where applicable. Excerpts from radio shows or film soundtracks were frequently included.

The shows were heard originally on BBC Radio Four and later in the US on National Public Radio stations.

US listeners should not dismiss these shows as targeted for UK audiences. In Series 1, we're offered a show about Sherlock Holmes, the Saint and the Shadow. In Series 2, we find Hercule Poirot. In Series 3, there's Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe. If you like mystery and detective shows, any of the shows are a treat.

These shows were saved from FREE-TO-AIR BROADCASTS by ANALOGUE RADIO. The quality is pretty good considering they are from streaming capture.
